A baked anode is a complex material, that results from the mixing and baking of different petrol coke grains, with different size distributions, with a pitch. A preliminary study (ICSAS16-CST-MFG-35143-01) developed a PFC2D model accounting for the microstructure of a baked anode, using the Bonded Particle Model (BPM).
Mr. Panes is a Civil Engineer with experience in soil mechanics and numerical modeling. He has participated in slope stability analysis for tailings dams, open pits and recommendation inter-ramp angles for pit slopes using UDEC and FLAC. He has also experience with the modeling of structural elements (micropiles, cables and bolts) in mining pits and dynamic analysis in soil subjected to earthquake loading using FLAC and FLAC3.
