LKAB plans to increase the production in Malmberget mine to 20 million metric tons of iron ore per year. The objective of this work was to create a detailed model of all orebodies to study the stress situation with continued ore production at depth.
Dr. Tran is a geotechnical engineer and software developer with extensive experience in numerical modelling for geotechnical investigation. He has worked on various projects evaluating the stability of deep tunnels, underground mines, nuclear power plants, quay walls, and dams. He is currently involved in the development of Itasca software (FLAC3D and 3DEC).
