An Itasca software license consists of two parts: the license type (physical/virtual key and number of seats) and license term (duration). All software is available for supported Windows platforms and the current versions of 3DEC, FLAC2D, FLAC3D, MassFlow, and PFC are supported for Ubuntu 20.04 Linux.
LICENSE TYPE
Desktop
- Ideal for an individual or for multiple users working within the same office
- Stand-alone, single-user license
- Permits two instances of the software to create and solve models simultaneously on a single computer
- No limit to the number of instances that may be used to view an existing model (i.e., results visualization and output)
- USB key must be connected to the computer to allow cycling or model modification
- USB security key may be moved between computers and users as needed
- License is valid for the software version purchased and for older versions
- Available for 3DEC, FLAC, FLAC3D, Griddle, PFC, UDEC, and XSite
Network
- Ideal for a centralized, IT-administered organization
- Multiple seats may be purchased per network license
- USB security key and license management software are installed on client server
- Software may be installed on as many computers as needed
- Requires network connection to the client server while cycling
- License is valid for the software version purchased and for older versions
- Available for 3DEC, FLAC, FLAC3D, Griddle, PFC, UDEC, and XSite
- Permits a single instance of the software to cycle for each seat purchased for FLAC, Griddle, and UDEC
- Permits two instances of the software to cycle for each seat purchased for 3DEC, FLAC3D, and PFC
Web
- Ideal for organizations with many users at different locations and/or for cloud computing
- Does not require a USB key
- Allows multiple seats per web license
- Software may be installed on as many computers as needed
- Requires internet access during model cycling or model modification (loss of internet access pauses modeling)
- Customers have administrative control over the web license and will be able to add and subtract users, view license usage, and perform other administrative tasks
- Available for 3DEC, FLAC2D, FLAC3D, Griddle, and PFC
- Permits a single instance of the software to cycle for each seat purchased for FLAC and Griddle
- Permits two instances of the software to cycle for each seat purchased for 3DEC, FLAC2D, FLAC3D, and PFC (both instances must be on the same OS instance)
- Permits an unlimited number of users in the user pool for any license (though simultaneous use is limited to the number of seats on the license)
LICENSE TERM
Perpetual
- The license is effective in-perpetuity for the software version purchased
- Free technical support* is provided until 12 months after the next version is released
- Upgrade to the next version at a discounted price (i.e., pre-purchase)
Annual Lease
- The license is effective for 365 days
- Free technical support* is provided during the term of the lease
- You may upgrade to a newer version at no cost
Monthly Lease
- The license is effective on a month-by-month basis
- License is valid for the most current software version and older versions
- Free technical support* is provided during the term of the lease
- Lease purchase may be partially applied to a Perpetual license purchase
SPECIAL LICENSES
Academic Licenses
- Academic institutes can receive a 50% discount off their purchase of perpetual licenses, all options
- Software is fully functional
- Institutions must meet Itasca’s definition of an “educational institution”
- Software may only be used for educational or academic research purposes
Demonstration Software
- Demonstration versions of the software are intended to provide an opportunity to evaluate the software, review documentation, and to learn its use
- If the software is started without a license, it may be run in Demonstration Mode by clicking the continue option when prompted
- This mode is fully functional in every respect and includes all options
- The number of zones, blocks, balls, and/or other components is capped at some small value (varies by software)
- Project and Model save functionality and grid export capabilities are disabled
- Demonstration Mode is effectively in-perpetuity
- DOWNLOAD DEMONSTRATION SOFTWARE
Trial Software
- Trial versions of the software are intended to provide an opportunity to fully evaluate the software prior to making a purchase decision
- This mode is fully functional in every respect and may include any option(s)
- Their is no set model size cap
- Software trial licenses are web-licenses and require Internet access
- Trial licenses are generally valid for up to two-weeks
